Do Away with Your Sprays?

If you spend a lot of time in the house. You might want to cut back on your use of aerosols . The University of Bristol’s wide-ranging children of the 90s study has found that mothers use air fresheners are more likely to experience headaches and depression while their babies are more likely to suffer from earache diarrhoea and vomiting. The culprits chemicals called volatile organic compounds are also found in deodorants hairsprays furniture polishes and clothes that have been dry-cleaned.

“ Ironically people think these products make their homes cleaner and healthier,” says Dr Alexandra Farrow from the study . “ We advise limiting the use of air fresheners . To freshen the air try squeezing a lemon instead.”

PLANNING PARENTHOOD

The NEXT generation of women need to strategize for a family. While writing Creating a Life , Sylvia Ann Hewlett found that a third of well-paid career women were childless at 40 , and most hadn’t planned it that way.

The “creeping non-choice” arises because most young career women believe they can wait until 40 to have kids. But statistics say a woman’s fertility typically peaks by 30 and drops 50% by 35. By her early 40s , she has a 3% to 5% chance of having a baby , even using fertility techniques.

“If you want children , plan where you want to be at 45 and work backwards,” says Hewlett. “Make time to find a partner. Seek out a company with policies that will help you have both work and family in your life.”

How Cold is Your Vodka?

Elin Wibell from Absolut vodka doesn’t recommend you drink vodka ice cold.
“The perfect serving temperature is between 5 and 8 degrees C,” he says. “The colder the vodka, the more flavour and smell is lost.”
However ,Mittie Hellmich, author of Mini Bar Vodka , explains that if you’re not mixing vodka with anything ,putting it in the freezer to chill will make it more pleasant to drink. “It gives the spirit a pleasing,thick,syrupy-like texture, which when sipped with a glass of mineral water is one of the best ways to enjoy it.”
Seems the choice is yours.

LIFE OF VEGETARIANS AND NON-VEGETARIANS

Veg.:
For food it mainly includes all vegetables and fruits etc. For non-food category let’s
take clothes as an example. The clothes, say which are made out of cotton, come
under this category. There can be other consumables like perfumes, oil and other
accessories etc. made out of Veg. goods.
Those who consume only Veg. goods are called “Vegetarians”.
Non-Veg.:
For food it simply means any food other than Veg. food. It mainly includes food made from the flesh of animals, birds etc. In non-food category say clothes; it includes clothes where animal’s skin or bird’s wings etc. are used. There can also be other consumables like perfumes, oil and other accessories like leather shoes, belts, bags and show-pieces etc. containing Non-Veg. goods.
Those who consume only / also Non-Veg. goods are called “Non-Vegetarians”.
This was the simplest way of describing Veg. goods and Non-Veg. goods.
Now let us understand the same scientifically:
Any living creature can have maximum five senses or less than that. The five senses
have an order in which they are bestowed upon a living creature by nature Viz. touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. All creatures do not possess all the five senses.
In addition to that there may be powers to think, speak, walk, hold things, fly etc.
depending on the body structure of various forms of lives.
Both Veg. and Non-Veg. products are made from living creatures. Then what is it that differentiates them from each other? It is the number of senses and other powers gifted to them by nature within the given form of life. The common life for each of them is their individual SOULS but the un-common physical form is due to the BODY STRUCTURE they have in their current forms of material lives.
Life of Veg. Goods:
The life of Veg. goods is very limited i.e. they have very limited senses and powers to enjoy while they are alive. They only posses one sense out of five, the sense of touch i.e. their body which feels the sense of touch and their soul survives within their body.
For example a plant does not have a tongue to taste, nose to smell, eyes to see or ears to hear. The plants can not speak, walk or fly as well.
Thus the body structure of life of Veg. goods does not have following:
_ They can’t Taste, Smell, See and Hear.
_ They do not have powers to Think, Speak etc.
_ They do not have separate body parts like Hands, Legs and Wings etc.
Life of Non-Veg. Goods:
The life of Non-Veg. goods is much more powerful than the Veg. goods and they
have higher senses as well.
Life of Non-Veg. goods can enjoy following while they are alive (as applicable as per
their form of life):
_ They can posses any additional or all senses out of the five senses apart from
the sense of Touch as per the order of Taste, Smell, Sight and Hearing.
_ They have powers to Think, Speak etc.
_ They have various body parts like Hands, Legs and Wings etc.
As we all know we have got various terms to define people when they are born with
different types of physical disabilities e.g. the one who can’t speak is described as
Dumb; the one who can’t hear is described as Deaf etc.
Are these terms applicable to the lives of Veg. goods? Obviously Not, because the
way in which they are designed by nature they anyways do not posses all these senses and powers in the first place.
Now can these terms be applied to life of Non-Veg. goods? Obviously Yes, because
as designed by nature they are supposed to have all these senses and powers. So even the life of Non-Veg. goods can be Dumb, Deaf etc. just like we humans if they are born handicapped or may be disabled due to an accident.

“Vivekananda” – Developing Managerial Effectiveness

• We should all have strict ‘Morality’.

• It’s easy to play the role of a ‘Master’. The challenge lies in becoming a ‘Servant’.

• We should be open to ‘Learn’ whatever ‘good’ things we come across ‘anywhere’.

• We should try to be ‘Pure’ and ‘Selfless’.

• Money is not power. The real power lies in ‘Holiness’.

• Great things can be achieved only with great ‘Sacrifices’.

• Those who live to ‘Serve’ others are alive. The ones who are selfish are like the dead.

• ‘Work Hard’. Life is short, find a purpose. Life is much more beyond enjoyment!

• If you really want to worship God i.e. Nature then ‘Help’ the poor, miserable and all
lives across the globe that need our help, care, protection and love.

• The only path to real and eternal success is ‘Truth’.

• Keep away from ‘Jealousy’, ‘Ego’ and ‘Anger’. These are main causes of all miseries.

• Always be ‘Positive’ and never criticize others. What maximum we should do is to
‘Share’ our knowledge with others to share the blessings of ‘Truth’.

• Young ‘Children’ are like lions. They are ‘Fearless’. Be a child to be a lion. Bravery lies
in ‘Humbleness’, ‘Simplicity’, ‘Honesty’ and ‘Frankness’.

• Always use ‘Good Language’, even while we are communicating with our enemies.

• The most precious asset is ones ‘Character’ and not money, jewels, fame or power.

ME and MY BOSS

When I Take a long time to finish, I am slow,
When my boss takes a long time, he is thorough
When I don't do it, I am lazy,
When my boss does not do it, he is busy,
When I do something without being told, I am trying to be smart,
When my boss does the same, he takes the initiative,
When I please my boss, I am apple polishing,
When my boss pleases his boss, he is cooperating,
When I make a mistake, I' am an idiot.
When my boss makes a mistake, he's only human.
When I am out of the office, I am wondering around.
When my boss is out of the office, he's on business.
When I am on a day off sick, I am always sick.
When my boss is a day off sick, he must be very ill.
When I apply for leave, I must be going for an interview
When my boss applies for leave, it's because he's overworked
When I do good, my boss never remembers,
When I do wrong, he never forgets

Living In Spirit

Stress is a consequence of the technological age, and these days everybody is talking about stress. Stress and strains of a fast-paced and demanding modern age affect every organ of the body. A calm mind, a peaceful mind, is needed to encompass changing times. Times are changing very rapidly. To cope with these changes, we have to rely on ourselves to keep a balance of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual life. Our religion has ways to combat stress and the diseases it causes, ways to avoid the mental anguish which this fast-paced world brings about. These pressures did not exist in the agricultural age. Things were more relaxed then. All we had to do was plant our crops and wait for the harvest. Plant and wait. Plant and wait. And in-between there was plenty of time for religious activities. But life in the technological age is a life of constant work, constant activity, all of the time. So, we tend to set religion aside just when we need it the most. We have to rely on our religion to keep a balance in our life. It is a proven fact that religious people can cope with stress and strain better than nonreligious people. The answer to stress is not to take a pill to be able to relax. The answer is not to give up the temple, not to give up the culture, not to give up the scriptures which put everything into perspective, not to give up the art of meditation and the practices of yoga. Spiritual things you must understand with your heart, with your feeling. Feeling and thinking, working together, give you that deep understanding that you need to cognize the wisdom of the spirit. All you can do in living your life every day is to make today just a little bit better than yesterday was. You will then have confidence in yourself, so that tomorrow will be all right, too, and you won't fear the tomorrows. Why? Because in striving to make today the perfect day of your lifetime, you bring through your spirit. You allow the spirit, God, to permeate through all layers of your mind. At our sunrise pilgrimage this morning to the top of Mount Tamalpais we had over thirty devotees. It was a beautiful, inspiring time. Let me explain to you just a little bit what we were researching together on the mountaintop. Your thoughts sometimes literally flood your body or flow through your body. Sometimes you find your thoughts spinning and jumping from here to there. You don't know where they come from, and they confuse you as they flow through your body or your brain. Just as thought can flow through the body, so can spirit, or God, flow through the intuitive, the intellectual and the instinctive mind. When your thoughts flow through the body, your body becomes either dejected and heavy, or light and happy, depending upon the nature of your thinking. Affirmations can help you to improve the patterns of your thought and feeling. You have to repeat certain affirmations for certain lengths of time to produce a certain result. Every word -- and the meaning of each word if you know the meaning -- has a certain vibration. As a thought goes into motion, it permeates your nervous system and gives you a particular feeling. Just as your thoughts and your words can make your body feel a certain way, in the very same way the spirit, or God, flowing through the mind, can illumine and does illumine the mind and purify it. In facing your past, if your past is not exactly what you would like to look at, and you look at it and still react to it, you will create today as a day much worse than yesterday. You will not be living the spiritual life. But if you seek first the spirit within you each day, and make the day a little bit better than yesterday, you flood the spiritual being of you, the real you, through the mind. And you wipe away and clarify much of the past and bring much understanding through your mind. What is responsible for negative reactions of the subconscious mind? Simply the transgressions that you have caused against the natural laws of the mind, that's all. If you transgress the laws of the physical body, eat the wrong things, behave in the wrong way, your physical body will suffer because of it. If you transgress the natural laws of the mind, hurt another instead of help another, discourage instead of encourage another person, then your mind will suffer. A part of the mind goes out of control, and that is called being emotional. The emotions are a part of the mind out of control. They gain a momentum of their own and eventually take over the entire mind. But when the will of the spirit comes up and controls the emotional nature, the emotions subside for a period of time until they gain momentum again. This goes on sometimes all through life.

Sharp Concentration

Writing to-do lists and keeping a schedule may keep you organized, but does it really help you get more done? I believe that organization is important, but what you really need is focus. Being able to sit down and concentrate intensely on your work for a few hours. Even a half hour of focused effort can get more done than an entire day of distraction and multitasking. Here’s some tips to get into a state of deep concentration where work flows easily:
1) Cut Off the Noise
It may be obvious that distractions aren’t helping your focus, but do you actually cut them out? I’ll admit, it can be tempting to put the e-mail alerts on, turn on the IM and answer every request sent your way. But in the end it is only preventing you from concentrating.
Getting into a state of concentration can take at least fifteen minutes. If you are getting distracted every five, you can’t possibly focus entirely on your work. Answer your e-mails at scheduled times. Request that people don’t interrupt you when working on a big project. If you are required to answer phones and drop-in’s immediately, schedule work when the office is less busy.
2) Structure Your Environment
The place you work can have an impact on your ability to focus. Try to locate yourself so you are facing potential distractions such as doors, phones or windows. This way you can take a glance to assess sounds that would otherwise break your focus.
3) Clarify Objectives
Know what your goal is clearly before you start. If you aren’t sure what the end result is, the confusion will make it impossible to focus. Before I write any articles, I define the main focus of the article and get a brief mental picture of the structure. Unclear objectives often result in having to redo sections of work.
4) Divide Blobs
Big blobs of tasks that have no clear start or end point destroy focus. If you have a large project that needs work, clearly identify a path that you will use to get started working on it. If the sequence of actions isn’t obvious, it will be difficult to concentrate. Taking a few minutes to plan not only your end result, but the order you will complete any steps, can save hours in wasted thinking.
5) Know the Rules
Get clear on what the guidelines are for the task ahead. What level of quality do you need? What standards do you need to follow? What constraints are there? If you are writing a program, get clear on how much commenting you need, what functions you want to use and the flexibility required. If you are writing an article, decide on the length and style.
If the rules aren’t clear from the outset, you will slip out of concentration as you ponder them later.
6) Set a Deadline
Deadlines have both advantages and disadvantages when trying to force concentration. A deadline can make it easier to forget the non-essential and speed up your working time. If you give yourself only an hour to design a logo, you will keep it simple and avoid fiddling with extravagant designs. Time limits have disadvantages when they cause you to worry about the time you have left instead of the task itself. I recommend using a deadline when:
1. Time is limited. If you only have a day to complete work that could easily take
weeks, chunking it into specific deadlines will strip away everything that isn’t
crucial.
2. It’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. If your task could easily expand to have new features or ideas, use a deadline to keep it under control.
3. To avoid procrastination. A tight deadline can save you if you are worried about
procrastinating.
7) Break Down Roadblocks
Roadblocks occur whenever you hit a tricky problem in your work. This can happen when you run out of ideas or your focus wavers. Break down roadblocks by brainstorming or planning on a piece of paper. Writing out your thought processes can keep you focused even if you might become frustrated.
8 ) Isolate Yourself
Become a hermit and stay away from other people if you want to get work done. Unless your work is based on other people they will only break your focus. Create a private space and refuse to talk to anyone until your work is finished. Put a sign on your door to steer away drop-ins and don’t answer your phone.
9) Healthy Body, Sharper Mind
What you put into your body affects the way you concentrate. Nobody would expect peak performance if they showed up drunk to work. But if you allow yourself to get chronic sleep deprivation, overuse stimulants like caffeine or eat dense, fatty foods your concentration will suffer. Try to cut out one of your unhealthy habits for just thirty days to see if there is a difference in your energy levels. I’ve found even small steps can create dramatic changes in my ability to focus.
10) Be Patient
Before I write an article, I often sit at my desk for a fifteen or twenty minutes before I put finger on the keyboard. During this time I feel a strong urge to leave or do something else. But I know that if I am patient, I’ll stumble upon an idea to write about and enter a state of flow. Without a little patience, you can’t take advantage of flow when it rushed through you. If you need strong concentration I recommend periods of 90-120 minutes. Any less than that and you will waste too much time getting started before the flow can continue. More than this is possible to sustain focus, but you will probably benefit from a quick break.

What is Money?

“Do we get birth along with money?”
“Can we at-least carry the money along with us when we finish the journey of life?”
No!
Then why is majority of us is just worried about making more and more money
throughout our lives?
Let us have a small conversation:
Set B to Set A: “How does money help us?”
Set A to Set B: “Well, to live we need money; like for food, clothing and shelter etc.”
Set B: “Agreed. But you have all these things since many years then why do you
continue to have ONLY ONE SINGLE GOAL of making more and more money?”
Set A: “Well I want success and happiness; so I need more money for that”
This is where the problem lies. We all think that we want huge sum of money because
we want to be happy, but actually money alone cannot help us to become happy. In
fact it is making us more and more upset every passing day because we want more
money than what we already have at any point of time.
Does it sound true? Ask this question to yourself.
Nature created all resources and gave it to the entire living society at no cost! Now
how would we go on deciding who will own what? So there was no option left for
humans but to start with a concept called ‘Money’ to enjoy these resources in
exchange of the same under the human made structure of ‘Economy’.

We have forgotten that money is a support to life as defined by human beings as per
structure of ‘Economy’ and it is NOT THE ONLY GOAL of life.
Life is to live and not just to spend.

No doubt money is required by each one of us to manage our material lives. However money alone can never be the end solution to anything because happiness is a state of mind where we feel satisfied about some thing. Just adding on money will always lead to addition of things without which we could have anyway led a satisfactory life but our psychology is not allowing us to accept that fact. We keep ourselves busy in endless materialistic ‘Comparison’ and ‘Competition’ because of our sick emotions of ‘Jealousy’ and ‘Ego’. We need to find a balance between Material and Spiritual goals.

The Solution is ready:
“Do not plan your expenditure first and then struggle to earn for it, but first earn and
then plan how you want to spend it”.
I am sure that you will feel more satisfied and happy this way.
Let us discuss the above philosophy with an example:
Set A:
I have a big flat but I want a bungalow. I have a car but I want my own airplane. I
have powers to rule but I want more…, more… and more.
Set B:
I have a beautiful house to stay in with a loving family and I am proud of it. Currently
I do not own a luxury car but it does not make me feel unhappy. In all I have the most
wonderful and healthy life to enjoy with complete satisfaction, peace of mind and
happiness and it will keep improving as a gradual process.
So now who is falling short of money? Obviously Set A. This simply means that
people in Set B are much happier than people belonging to Set A because they feel
satisfied and fulfilled even though they continue performing their material duties!
Thus it does not mean that Set B people necessarily need to renounce all their material
duties and straight away become Saint / Monk. It means that they continue fulfilling
their material needs but in a ‘Selfless state of MIND’ aimed at ‘Serving others’ by
keeping themselves ‘Detached’ from the slavery of extreme materialization and
keeping their soul ‘Devoted to God (Nature)’ i.e. Godliness.

Remember that “Greed is never Good”

Life beyond Money & Development. It’s Life of Happiness & Satisfaction
